Report Infrastructure is part of Know Your Numbers in Windward System Five.
System Five includes 10 documented capabilities here —
all 10 in the standard set.
These 10 capabilities sit within System Five's 1287-capability documented set — a selection, not a ceiling.
Optional
Bulk lookup word maintenance from reports
Optional
#
Tag a whole list of records at once
Reports that expose lookup words can add a lookup word to, or remove one from, every record that matched the report's filters, turning a report into a bulk tagging tool.
Common filter controls
Optional
#
Filter every report the same way
Category selection expanding main categories to sub-categories, currency selection across defined currencies, department selection, invoice type selection including invoices that were a given type during the period, and invoice sub-type selection gated by a report-on-sub-types switch, all behave identically wherever they appear.
Drill-through from report to record
Optional
#
Click a number and see behind it
Double-clicking a report line opens the underlying invoice, customer, ship-to, supplier, purchase order, part or unit, and on some reports emails the customer directly. Values changed in the source record recalculate when the report is refreshed.
Grid customisation and column control
Optional
#
Show only the columns we care about
Right-clicking a report grid opens Grid Options to show or hide columns, rename column captions, set fonts and colours, toggle printing of headers, grid lines, shading and word wrap, and reset to the default layout. These settings are per user.
Interruptible long-running reports
Optional
#
Stop a report that is taking forever
Reports whose runtime depends on the options chosen swap their Close button for a Stop button while building, so a report taking too long can be cancelled. Documentation flags which options are unindexed and therefore slow, such as book-month selection and calculated date-range or stock-age columns.
Label printing from report results
Optional
#
Print labels for whatever the report found
Reports print labels for the records they returned: inventory labels, location labels and inventory-location labels from inventory reports, and customer or supplier labels from receivables and customer reports, either one per record or a quantity per record.
Lookup word filtering with include and exclude
Optional
#
Filter reports by our own tags
A common lookup-word control appears across reports, moving words between available and attached lists, applied as must-have-all (AND) or must-have-one-or-more (OR), on separate include and exclude sub-tabs, and against invoice, customer, supplier or inventory lookup words depending on the report.
Relative date range formulas
Optional
#
Run the same report every month unchanged
Date ranges are defined by formula using Y for year, M for month, W for week and D for day, with parentheses for offsets, so Y is the current year, (Y-1) is last year and (Y-1)M is the current month last year. Ranges can be defined for a single report or system-wide for every report.
Saved report templates
Optional
#
Save a report setup and reuse it
Most reports save their full parameter set as a named report definition selectable from a drop-down, with New, Customize, Delete and Import or Export actions, and a default definition that loads automatically when the report is opened. Templates can be moved between systems.
Security-driven cost visibility
Optional
#
Hide our costs from the wrong staff
User security settings for View Wholesale Amounts and View Unit/Vehicle Wholesale Amounts control which cost columns appear on inventory reports. Where the two are set differently, costs show only on non-unit items and totals and subtotals are suppressed, since a unit may be inside the total.
Every capability on this page is documented in the System Five capability index.
