Age-restricted sales Standard #
Stop an underage sale at the till
Individual items can carry a minimum age, prompting the clerk at the point the item is added, alongside the dedicated cigarette and liquor sales options.
Age-Restricted Sales is part of The Counter in Windward System Five. System Five includes 11 documented capabilities here — 4 in the standard set and 7 optional. Trades that lean on it include Liquor and Winery Store.
These 11 capabilities sit within System Five's 1287-capability documented set — a selection, not a ceiling.
Stop an underage sale at the till
Individual items can carry a minimum age, prompting the clerk at the point the item is added, alongside the dedicated cigarette and liquor sales options.
Refuse an underage sale automatically
A minimum age is held on the inventory item, and adding that item prompts for the customer's date of birth or a driver's licence swipe. The system calculates the age and refuses the line if the customer is underage, and manual entry of a birth date can be disabled so a licence must be scanned.
Stop an underage sale at the till
The scanned licence displays the customer's age on screen, and a configurable minimum driver licence age setting raises a verification prompt when a restricted sale is rung.
Show clerks today's legal birth date
A touchscreen button caption can be built from date formulas that calculate and display the latest legal birth date for an alcohol purchase, updating itself daily, with separate formulas for the age 21 and age 19 thresholds.
Sell age-restricted goods within the rules
A dedicated integration category for cigarette and liquor sales programs and services.
Match the format the agency demands
Supplied XSL style sheets populate the fields required by the January 2007 MULTICAT requirements, including ship-to customer class of trade, customer product promotion acceptance identifier, and measure code and value pairs, and can be customised per business.
File the state tobacco return
A built-in report for tobacco retailers in Florida that outputs seller and retailer details plus monthly sales totals by product category in the form the state Department of Revenue expects.
Report tobacco sales as the law requires
System Five includes Master Settlement Agreement tobacco reporting for retailers who must report tobacco sales.
File the cigarette program report on time
Exports sales data in the MULTICAT format used by Management Science Associates' iDT software for US cigarette programs, selectable by date range, by customer or all customers, and by chosen inventory sub-categories. Output is an XML-driven report rendered to an HTML document with part summary and customer or invoice summary sections covering both ship-to and bill-to.
Map your categories to the agency ones
Setup captures general company information, primary contact details, an MSA category map and extra settings, pointing at a local report folder, and is switched on with a single Use Multicat option. Underlying SQL query fields are exposed but not intended for casual editing.
Turn the report into the agency file
A second script converts the human-readable MULTICAT report output into the agency transfer format, and is documented as a template that can be adapted to produce virtually any required output format. The report must always be run before the export.
