Optional

Automatic Financial Year Creation Optional #

Roll into the new year without stopping

The next financial year is created automatically from the previous one once the system date moves into it, and the operator is prompted to create it if a transaction is dated into a year that does not yet exist.

Closed period lock Optional #

Stop anyone posting into a closed month

A minimum book month prevents anything being posted to a period before that point, closing off months that have been reported on. Only supervisors with setup access can push the minimum back to reopen a closed month.

Minimum Book Month Lock Optional #

Stop staff editing a closed month

A bookkeeper or accountant sets a minimum book month, after which posted transactions dated before that point cannot be edited, and a separate security setting controls whether a user may edit anything in a previous financial year.

Separate book months for sales, payables and ledger Optional #

Close each set of books on its own schedule

System Five keeps distinct accounting periods for accounts receivable, accounts payable and the general ledger, so each can be closed on its own schedule.
